I've always been a bit of a nerd. I grew up playing Dungeons and Dragons, Rifts, and Shadowrun. I loved reading classic fantasy like Tolkien and Lewis. I fell in love with the writings of Zelazny, LeGuin, Jordan, and others. As a kid, I loved having my nose in a good book or playing RPGs with my friends as much as just about anything.
I have always been intrigued by martial arts. I remember the first time that I watched Enter the Dragon as a kid. From that moment on I was hooked. I wanted to be just like Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris when I was young. I love cheesy Kung Fu movies. I know it is a little weird, but the cheesier the better.
I had big dreams of traveling to Japan to study overseas. I never made it to Japan. Maybe someday I will, but I did study karate. I find practicing martial arts to be tremendously therapeutic and fantastic exercise. I also got involved in live action role play and medieval reenactments. I craft my own armor and weapons for medieval combat simulation. I find that my knowledge of combat and armor compliments my writing very well.
